Uzbek is written in two alphabets — Latin and Cyrillic — and you often need the same text in both. UzOffice turns that into a few seconds of work: it converts a whole document from Latin to Cyrillic or back with a single click, keeping the formatting and structure intact. No more retyping by hand.
Where to find the converter
Open a document in the editor and go to the Analyze & translate ribbon at the top. That's where the Latin–Cyrillic conversion buttons live. Select part of the text to convert just that part — or convert the whole document by leaving nothing selected.
Latin to Cyrillic
Click Convert to Cyrillic and the text switches to the Cyrillic alphabet instantly. The converter follows Uzbek spelling rules: digraphs such as sh and ch become single letters (ш, ч), and oʻ and gʻ map cleanly to ў and ғ.
Brand names, links and Latin terms (for example "UzOffice" or "Word") are normally left as they are, so technical text isn't garbled.
Cyrillic to Latin
The reverse is just as easy: the Convert to Latin button turns Cyrillic text into modern Uzbek Latin script. This is especially handy when bringing older documents up to the current standard.
Fixing apostrophes
In Latin script the letters oʻ and gʻ and the glottal-stop mark are typed differently on different keyboards — the correct mark (ʻ) is often replaced by a plain apostrophe (') or a quote. UzOffice normalises them to a single, correct form, so your document looks clean and spells correctly.
What is preserved
Conversion touches the letters only — everything else stays exactly where it was:
- fonts, sizes, colours and other formatting;
- headings, lists and tables;
- images, headers/footers and comments.
So you won't spend any time re-styling the converted document.
The Word add-in
If you need the same capability inside Microsoft Word, install the free UzOffice Word add-in. It brings Latin–Cyrillic conversion and Uzbek spell-checking straight into Word.
Frequently asked questions
Does conversion change the meaning of the text?
No. This isn't translation — it moves the text from one alphabet to another. The words stay in Uzbek; only the script changes.
Can I convert just one paragraph?
Yes. Select the part you want and click the button; only that section is converted, the rest is left untouched.
Does it work on large documents?
Yes. Multi-page documents are converted within seconds, with their structure preserved.
