You don't have to work on a document alone. In UzOffice you can share a file with a colleague or client in seconds — they can view it, or edit it, depending on the access you grant. No more sending copies around and losing track of versions: everyone works on the same document.
Access levels
You set a separate permission for each person:
- View — the person can only read the document, not change it. Handy for presenting a finished document.
- Edit — the person can make changes to the document. For working together.
You always remain the owner of the document. You can change the permission at any time, or revoke it entirely.
Who can you share with?
You share a file by email address or phone number. If the recipient already has a UzOffice account, the shared document appears in their list right away. You can't share a document with yourself.
What the recipient sees
A shared document appears in the recipient's Documents or Spreadsheets list with a small sharing badge, so it's clear this is a collaborative file. If their permission is "View", the editing controls simply aren't shown to them.
Managing a share
The same Share dialog shows who the document is shared with. From there you can change each person's permission or remove them from the list. When you revoke a share, that person can no longer open the file.
If you move a document to the Trash, it is also temporarily hidden from the people it's shared with; restoring it brings the sharing back.
Frequently asked questions
Can two of us edit a shared document at the same time?
Yes, if you both have edit access you can work on the document. Changes are saved automatically.
Can I restrict access later?
Of course. From the Share dialog you can change a person's permission from "Edit" to "View", or revoke the share altogether.
Does the recipient need a UzOffice account?
To open the file fully, it's best if they're registered. Signing up is free and takes a few minutes.
